REDLANDS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/11/08 -- Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council (GSSGC)named Terrie Correll, vice president and chief operating officer of TheLiving Desert, as the top female leader in San Bernardino and Riverside inoutdoor and environmental leadership.Known for her strong leadership and commitment to nature conservation andspecies survival, Terrie Correll of Anza currently serves as theVice-President/Chief Operating Office for the Living Desert, a zoologicaland botanical garden dedicated to desert conservation through preservation,education and appreciation, having previously served as the General Curatorand Curator of Animals. She holds a B.S. degree in Wildlife Ecology and hasspent 30 years in the zoo profession. She has spent over 20 years workingwith desert species in North America and Africa with particular focus onantelope.
In addition to her duties at The Living Desert, Terrie is a founding boardmember of the Sahara Conservation Fund and currently holds the office ofSecretary. She also serves on various committees for the Association ofZoos and Aquaria (AZA) in America. Terrie is the International StudbookKeeper for Addax, the species coordinator for AZA's Slender-horned GazelleSpecies Survival Plan and is a member of the International Union forConservation of Nature, the world's first global environmentalorganization, participating in the Antelope Specialist and ConservationBreeding Specialist Groups.
