"There is no baking or cooking required to create our new dessert," says Saxby Foods President Jonathan Avis. "The consumer simply tops our flan kit components with their choice of fruit."

Flantastic is an ideal dessert that can be served year round. "During fresh fruit and berry season consumers can purchase their favourite fruit and then use their imagination to create a cake that is both spectacular to look at and tastes great," says Avis. Outside of berry season, consumers can use frozen or canned fruit for their Flantastic creations.

Creating the cake is as easy as 1...2...3. Once the pre-baked flan is removed from its packaging along with a pouch of ready-made custard and a pouch of glaze, the custard is spread into the flan's cavity, the choice of fruit applied and then the glaze is brushed over the fruit to finish the dessert.

"From start to finish a Flantastic dessert can be created in just minutes," says Avis. "It may take the consumer longer to decide what fruit to use for the topping than to put the cake together."

"We developed Flantastic as a wholesome and fun dessert," says Avis. "We encourage parents to get their children involved in putting the cake together and then together enjoy the fruits of their labour."

Saxby Foods has created a special website www.flantastic.ca where consumers can watch videos on how to make a variety of Flantastic desserts. The site, which will go live in the next few weeks, will encourage consumers to upload photos or videos of their Flantastic creations for the entire world to see.
