AUSTIN, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/10/08 -- Texans will still have to reach deep into theirpockets when hitting the road this weekend.The AAA Texas Fuel Gauge Report shows that the statewide average is $3.96per gallon for regular gas. Nationally, the average price is $4.10.
Most Texas cities like Austin, El Paso, Ft. Worth and Galveston saw smallincreases for regular self-serve gasoline. Beaumont-Port Arthur however,bucked the trend with the price falling to $3.98 a gallon -- it is stillthe highest average price of the markets surveyed in Texas. Last week,Beaumont-Port Arthur pump prices shot up six cents, hitting a record highof $3.99.
This time last year, Texans were paying on average $1.08 less per gallon ofgasoline.
