Swinton, the UK's leading high street retailer of motorcycle insurance, is urging bikers to ensure their tyre pressure is read accurately on their motorbike. Failing to check tyre pressure correctly can not only cause fuel wastage, but can affect the steering and handling of bikes, leading to un-even tyre wear.

Swinton is offering the following advice for checking tyre pressure:

- Use an accurate tyre pressure gauge

- Follow tyre manufacturer guidelines

- Check pressure when tyres are cold

- When checking tyre pressure visually inspect them for cuts, tears or punctures

- Check tyre pressures on a weekly basis
