NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/13/08 -- Con Edison is closely monitoring theapproaching winter storm that is expected to hit our region tonight andtomorrow. The company will have extra crews and support personnel workingaround the clock to respond to any power outages.

Con Edison offers the following storm tips to customers to help weather thepossible effects of a storm:

  • If you see downed electrical wires, do not go near them. Treat all downedwires as if they are live. Never attempt to move them or touch them withany object. Be mindful that downed wires can be hidden from view by snow, tree limbs, leaves or water.
  • Report all downed wires to Con Edison and your local police departmentimmediately. If a power line falls on your car while you're in it, stayinside the vehicle and wait for emergency personnel.
  • To report a power interruption at your home, call Con Edison's toll-freecustomer service number 1-800-75-CON ED (1-800-752-6633) or log on to ourWeb site at www.conEd.com.
