Two Home Energy Efficiency Workshops Set for August 14-16 in Durango, Colorado

DURANGO, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 08/01/08 -- Home energy efficiency will be the focus fortwo innovative regional utility and consumer oriented workshops in Durangothis month. The "Four Corners Utility Efficiency Exchange" will beimmediately followed by a "Home Energy Makeover Workshop & Expo" fromAugust 14-16, 2008 at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.

Both events are co-hosted by the La Plata Electric, Empire Electric, andTri-State Generation and Transmission Associations with Colorado RuralElectric Associations plus Colorado Association of Municipal Utilities.Event sponsors include: Convectair; Electric & Gas Industries Association;Rheem Marathon Water Heaters; Market Development Group; Service Concepts;Steffes Heating Systems; Western Area Power Administration; Modeltech; andFraley and Company. Additional exhibitors for the consumer event include:Braxis Energy; Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency; Home EnergyAdvantage; Mantell-Hecathorn Builders; and Solar Today and Tomorrow.Market Development Group is providing event management and logisticalsupport.

The Four Corners Utility Efficiency Exchange event goal is to facilitate anetworking and professional development conference for staff of energyutilities and allies serving the Four Corners region who are responsiblefor developing and implementing customer programs related to energyefficiency, smart meters, demand response and renewable energy.

The Home Energy Makeover Workshop & Expo event goal is to acknowledge thatall energy prices are rising and homeowners sometimes feel there is nothingthey can do about it. Theco-hosts want Four Corners area homeowners to know that home energy-savingimprovements can pay for themselves. The co-hosts hope the consumerworkshop will encourage area homeowners to install home energy-savingimprovements themselves with products purchased from local retailers orthey will choose to hire reputable professional installers.

The Saturday workshop's fast-moving agenda includes 25 brief presentationson home energy efficiency and renewable energy topics in the same room asexhibit displays from national and local providers of energy efficiencyproducts and services. Admission is $15 per person at the door, but selectnon-profit community groups are selling advance admission tickets for justa $10 donation. The admission ticket includes one box lunch and door prizedrawing entries. Free bus transportation will be available from the EmpireElectric Association parking lot to Fort Lewis College.
