In its recommendations, the USDA Panel stated, "Fishmeal and fish oilproduced from wild fish and other wild aquatic animals, or any portion ofthe wild fish that do not qualify as provided in this section cannot beused in organic production of aquatic animals, or certified or labeled asorganic."

According to Neptune CEO Mr. Ernest Papadoyianis, who recently addressedthe Organic Standards panel in Washington, D.C., "These recommendationsstrongly support the need for sustainable protein alternatives for fish andshrimp diets. Papadoyianis believes the panel's recommendations increase the probabilitythat a true organic standard will be set by the USDA.
