TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/11/08 -- Peter Mordaunt, CEO and Chairman of Stingray Copper Inc. ("Stingray")(TSX: SRY)(TSX: SRY.WT) reports that these additional (18) holes, drilled to infill and expand the Starter Pit Area at the north margin of the El Pilar resource, complete the drilling of this approximate half square kilometer area. Material from these drill holes has been analyzed and composited to represent the material that is expected to be mined from the Starter Pit Area as has been determined from the Company's geological/resource modeling. This metallurgical program is ultimately designed to optimize copper recovery and sulphuric acid consumption in the copper leaching process. The complete metallurgical program is being conducted by Metcon Research Inc.

The results reported from 18 new drill holes completed on drill sections 9150 North, 9250 North and 9300 North complete the infill drilling of the Starter Pit Area. The drill holes reported continue to intersect wide intervals of oxidized copper mineralization similar in character to the previous wide spaced (200 meter) drill results completed by former property owner, Noranda Exploracion Mexico S.A. de C.V. (Xstrata Copper). These holes are posted at the Company's website and a map of the hole locations can be found at the link below or at the Company's website;

Copper intervals reported in Table 1 reflect approximate true widths and the principal copper mineral intersected at El Pilar is chrysocolla occurring as intrusive fragments in the host conglomerate. The resource outcrops at the north, and is flat lying to shallowly dipping to the southwest. All drill core samples herein reported have been logged by the Company's staff under the direction of the Company's geologists and were delivered for assaying and metallurgical testwork to Metcon Research Inc. of Tucson Arizona.

Stingray has now reported 98 drill holes completed on 17 drill sections from 9300 North to 8200 North. Stingray has drilled over 170 holes on 100 meter drill section spacing and also at 50 meter drill section spacing in the Starter Pit Area. Two drill rigs continue to test the oxidized copper mineralization with vertical, HQ sized drill holes. The NI43-101 compliant inferred mineral resource of 180 million tonnes grading 0.37% total copper calculated at a cutoff of 0.25% total copper is being systematically drilled at minimum 100 meter drill centers along its current 1.2 kilometer length and approximate 500 meter width. At a lower cut-off of 0.20% total copper, the inferred mineral resource is 237 million tonnes grading 0.33% total copper. Stingray is working to reclassify the inferred mineral resource and develop the El Pilar as an open pit, heap leach, solvent extraction-electrowinning (SX-EW) copper mine. Stingray expects to recalculate the El Pilar resource after the completion of the drill program.

Socio-Economic Study

As part of the ongoing technical/feasibility assessment of the El Pilar project, Consultant Patricia Aguayo Hurtado has delivered a Socio-Economic Study to the Company. This extensive study was conducted over 2 months by Datos y Cifras del Noroeste, S.A. de C.V., who specialize in opinion polls and market studies. An interview process that included the total population of the nearest town of Miguel Hidalgo and representative population samples of Santa Cruz, Mascarenas and smaller communities all within a 10 kilometer radius of the El Pilar project was conducted. The general opinion of all people living in the area is in favor of the El Pilar project. In the nearest community of Miguel Hidalgo, 95% of the people surveyed are in favor of the project. The principal concerns of the local people are the lack of employment opportunities, education and services. Stingray is determined to be considerate of the needs and desires of the local communities and will strive to address these concerns. The Company's intent is to always have a positive impact on the stakeholders at El Pilar.

Stingray is well financed, with approximately $20M in the treasury, to carry out the current technical assessment of the El Pilar copper resource. Stingray has been adding the key, experienced professionals needed to the engineering team that is busy directing these technical studies.
