Global Leader in Rolling Medicine Carts to Integrate SmartTOUCH(TM) Technology to Provide Secure Access to Medication, Syringes And Other Controlled or Regulated Medical Items, With The Touch of a Finger
JERICHO, N.Y., May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- bioMETRX, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BMRX - News) a leader in fingerscan technology and products and S & S MedCart, Inc., of Houston, Texas, the worlds leading supplier of rolling medicine carts, jointly announce that they have executed a development partnership agreement to incorporate smartTOUCH(TM) technology into S & S's line of medical dispensing carts and drawers.
bioMETRX's wholly owned subsidiary, smartTOUCH Medical, Inc., recently announced its plans to develop the smartCART(TM) rolling medical cart system. The smartCART(TM) introduces finger-activation technology to secure rolling medicine carts and other medical dispensing equipment found in typical hospital and care settings. The product is being designed to allow only authorized and enrolled medical practitioners such as physicians, nurses and emergency medical personnel to access medications, syringes and other controlled substances, in order to administer care.
"Existing methods of securing dispensing carts have various underlying security issues," commented Mark Basile, CEO of bioMETRX, Inc. Lock and key solutions are cumbersome and present security risks in the event that keys are lost or stolen. In addition, most carts that offer digital numeric keypads are often utilized ineffectively as nursing staff continue to use the standard default settings from the factory, or leave the carts unlocked because they forget the pin codes. "smartTOUCH(TM) technology addresses the concerns caused by the inefficiencies of these current methods. Our finger-activated technology offers a more secure and convenient alternative, providing immediate, controlled access to authorized personnel." While we design and manufacture our own line of biometrically enabled consumer products, we also offer our expertise to OEM's in other markets," added Mr. Basile.
S&S Medcart is at the cutting edge of the medical crash cart industry and is constantly improving it's product line to meet the changing hospital environment and needs. "We have had several requests over the last two years to provide finger-activated products to our market. We are very excited to be working closely with bioMETRX to deliver a cost-effective, more secure and easier to manage product to our clients," noted Dr. Norm Shoenfeld, President of S & S Medcart.
S&S MedCart expects to launch the stand-alone finger-activated cart in the first quarter of 2007. "Initially concentrating on integrating smartTOUCH(TM) technology into MedCart's Partner POC product line, we plan to have the first design completed by the end of this summer" stated Bernard Lee, Director of Product Development for bioMETRX Technologies, Inc. "Future versions will span the complete range of MedCart's Medication and Point of Care Carts, and will introduce additional features including networked enrollment, remote tracking capabilities and communications with administrative supervisory controls, along with strict audit and proximity information," added Mr. Lee.
According to Mr. Lee, the medicine cart is only one of several exciting biometric-based products being developed for the medical community that are expected to be ready for the marketplace starting early 2007.
